Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year. It is going to be an exciting year. With the wonderful support of our community, renovations to the school are now complete. The enhancements have led to many wonderful changes within the school – all designed to improve student performance.
Mackensen Elementary School has three strong traditions to be proud of. First, is the tremendous support we receive from our parents and community. Parent involvement is one key to students achieving to their fullest potential. It is great to see our parents take an active role in the educational process. Our parents are second to none. I am proud to share that during the 2008-2009 school year, our parents recorded the highest number of volunteer hours in the Bay City Public Schools.
Our highly trained and dedicated staff is the second tradition that makes Mackensen a great school. Thanks to their dedication to the students, Mackensen has been an “A” school for the past 8 years.
Lastly, Mackensen students are held to high academic standards and achieve at those standards. Our MEAP scores are but one of many indicators of student achievement. Our students should be proud of their efforts and hard work.
I am looking forward to continuing to work with the parents, staff, and students of Mackensen Elementary School. Please feel free to contact me at anytime at 989.684.4958 or 989.233.5509 or by e-mail at folsomj@bcschools.net. Together, we will make 2009-2010 a year all students will remember.
